The Last Illest

This book gives a vivid look at the street life the hip-hop evolved from by relating personal events from the author's history. He goes into New York street culture and tracks the history and progress of hip-hop from day one from his perspective and he was a man who was there at the jump, participating in hip-hop emcee freestyle battles and doing what he did in the streets to influence the rappers and the burgeoning hip-hop culture which took over the world. Read Shakim Bio's trials and tribulations as he made his way in the world and stayed in touch with his hip-hop roots. He calls this book "street hop" and street hop it is. The book moves on multiple levels at once, giving a story and the history in a concise manner. Shakim even takes us into prison where he is now and gives us the ultimate insider perspective on what the real gangsters that rap artists modeled themselves off of think of their raps and lyrics and the images they portray.
